It seems Central Florida has developed a major crush on front porches lately and honestly with beautiful weather nearly year round, what’s not to love? Although Americans have always had a love affair with their front porches, the last few years have seen new home builders embracing the nearly lost style and home buyers can’t get enough. The front porch is a symbol to Americans of a wholesome time, a shared history and a cultural identity that represents the American spirit. So it’s no wonder that as people become more digitally tied they are looking for true communities and not just neighborhoods, and a comfortable spot to get to know their neighbors, to give a wave, share a friendly conversation or just relax and watch the kids play.
Front porches have become so popular that many towns across the nation have begun hosting festivals centered exclusively around them. Locally, Sanford just hosted its first Porchfest. Featuring musicians, homeowners and residents uniting to offer a true community event, and a novel way to enjoy the beautiful and historic homes in Sanford.
