Lake Mary, FL 32746
Timacuan Subdivision Lake Mary FL
Timacuan is a desirable, established golf community right off Rinehart Road in Lake Mary. Just like the two neighboring subdivisions, Woodbridge Lakes and Manderley, its easy access to I-4, 417, shopping (Seminole Town Center), dining and entertainment (Colonial Town Park) has made Timacuan one of the most desirable addresses in Lake Mary and even Central Florida. In fact, Timacuan’s Golf Course is the second most popular gold course in the Orlando area. This subdivision is basically any golfer’s paradise and offers a club house for club members located right in the middle of the community. The golf course is a semi-private 18-hole course. Click here to visit their website.
A downside to the benefits of living in this golf course community (idyllic views, very well landscaped and maintained and status) is the fact that yards cannot be fenced in. Only a natural fence in form of manicured bushes is allowed, and special permission needs to be requested, especially in areas that are directly facing the golf course. So if you don’t mind being heavily restricted by your HOA, Timacuan is a very peaceful, quiet and beautiful community. The neighborhood is socially very active, with numerous groups and a social committee. With residents living in the over 500 homes of Timacuan and its little subdivisions within, it won’t take long to make new friends.
Another benefit of living in Timacuan is the fact that this community offers a great opportunity for outdoor activities such as biking, walking and roller-blading. The walkways within the community are perfect for those types of activities and when exiting the subdivision you will have a direct connection to the Lake Mary bike route that will lead you to Lake Mary Boulevard or International Parkway from which you can easily connect to the Seminole Wekiva Trail, a beautiful safe bike/skate/walk/jogging trail that connects Lake Mary to Altamonte Springs (approx. 15 miles). Along the Rinhart Road portion of the trail you will even find little rest areas with water fountains. When exiting the back gate you will be within a close distance of the Lake Mary Sports Complex where you can enjoy batting cages, ball fields, a skatepark, a tot lot, basketball courts, soccer fields and tennis facilities. Also located here is the new Trailblazer Park, a fun playground and splash park for the young ones. Depending on where you you are located in the community, Timacuan may also be one of the few communities in Lake Mary that allows you to walk to the closets grocery store (in this case Publix) or dining and entertainment (Colonial Town Park), a chance for a “semi-urban” lifestyle so to speak.
Even though Timacuan has a Lake Mary address, the subdivision is zoned for Sanford schools. Seminole High was recently featured in Newsweek as one of “America’s Best High Schools” It offers the county’s IB and Health Academy Magnet programs. The middle school, Millenium Middle offers students the option of a pre-IB or Fine Arts magnet program.
