The Orlando Parade of Homes is back this year and features over 40 homes and apartment communities. This is always an exciting event for those of us who love looking at new innovations in home designs, trends and features, and this year’s line up is absolutely drool worthy! There are 4 categories – New Home, Remodels, Inspirational Designs, and Apartment communities. If I had the time (or the event ran longer) I would absolutely make it my mission to see every home in every category, but I don’t and it doesn’t, so I have selected my top 3 that I plan to visit this weekend.
I am extremely excited by this year’s Inspirational Designs and chose the 3 homes to visit based mainly on that criteria, I love seeing creative use of space, new design features and new materials being used throughout the homes, there were a few Remodels I would have loved to tour that seem to fit this criteria, but they are sadly are not open to the public.
The 3 I have selected are all open to the public and can be toured June 18-26 from 10-6 Monday through Saturday and 12-5 Sunday.
Modern Hacienda
Here is the Phil Kean Design Group’s Entry “Modern Hacienda”, I love the mediterranean style of this home juxtaposed with some of the more modern elements like the light fixtures and kitchen design while still maintaining the feeling through all of the windows that you are indeed in a luxurious hacienda high in the spanish hills. I also really love the way the whole back of the house is designed around the pool to really capture that feeling of an everyday vacation.

The Jessup
This 2 story stucco home by WJ Homes, may look rather minimalist on the outside but the inside is packed with really fun design elements and uses. From the glass enclosed 2nd floor walkway, to the wide plank pine flooring, and coffered wood ceiling this house may be minimal but it’s definitely not boring!
The Details:
5 bed
5.5 bath
4,590 sq ft
$1.7 million
Bahay Betty
Now this is a house with a story, and I love a story! This A frame home uses mixed materials on the exterior, introducing you to all of the materials you will find on the inside. The A frame window wall is tucked away in the backyard revealing itself as almost a surprise feature. The home owners are Filipino and chose many of the tiles and colors to reflect their culture in their home. I think this might be the house I’m most excited about seeing!
