Orlando is still a very young city when it comes to urban living and residential districts within its downtown area. As the city center develops though, it become clear how each neighborhood within the downtown area has its character. At this point it may not make a big difference where you chose to live within downtown Orlando. Most people refer to the city center as simply “Downtown Orlando”. However, as each neighborhood slowly develops a more unique and distinctive feel to it, your downtown neighborhood choice will matter in the future. The Downtown Orlando web site divides the area into 6 distinctive smaller neighborhoods:
- Uptown North Orange
- Eola Heights
- Thornton Park
- South Eola District
- Lake Cherokee Historic District
- Holden and Parramore
As in every larger city, the downtown area mainly offers condo living in its very center, and town home living as you move further away from it (e.g. Thornton Park).
